ING Bank NL is looking for a passionate and inspiring DevOps SRE engineer with a solid software development background and hands on mentality.
The challenge
Our engineers are at the heart of ING. We solve some of the hardest problems. Constantly experimenting and improving of both the way of working and the engineering skills. You will be working in the area of Current accounts / Savings accounts and the ING Loyalty shop. Within our area a special squad is setup with the mission to adopt SRE in the area. We have around 25 feature squads working on APIs to develop features for our customers. They all have their own stack consisting of Azure for coding and deployment, OpenShift as container platform and Elastic / Grafana / Prometheus for monitoring and logging. We notice that squads have different interpretations on how to monitor their applications in production and adopting SRE for the department.
The team you will be working in is developing a scalable platform Which generates monitoring stack based on Grafana and Prometheus with content, based on the generic metrics generated by our API frameworks and which will allow us to setup an effective alerting procedure.
This way we will have a standardized setup and look at the same metrics for all applications. Your role will be enhancing the tooling for the automated roll-out and collaborate with the squads to help them understand the dashboards and how to interpret the metrics. The squad is also involved in many proof-of-concept tracks for example a migration of OpenShift version 3 to version 4. The infra team delivers the stack, and you figure out what needs to be done for squads in our area to execute the migration and see if it can be automated for the 25 squads in our area.
